My ArtVenture: Acrylic painting "Umbrella girl"

in #art6 years ago

Hello my dear Steemians,

I mentioned that I was going to have long working days and now the week is over and I am enjoying my weekend. That is great to sleep extra hour in the morning to have a breakfast with a family and just chat about everything and nothing.

I have a little highlight over my last days, I met very interesting person during my work, the person who I found later is an artist and she is a watercolour artist, her husband is an artist too because of painting they met each other and they create their work he does does mostly Oil paintings but also can do watercolor and Ink.

They both belong to Dunfermline Art club, for those who has an interest, here is the link:

https://www.dunfermlineartclub.co.uk/

Dunfermline is a small town not far from the place where we live, so I am definetely going to visit them in near future.

Another good news I I bought acrylic paper so I have now something where I can paint and also I decided to buy some Watercolour paper and try to use watercolour again. My new friend she inspired me and seeing her watercolour paintings I thought why not :)

But today, I would like to share with you my painting, that is almost continuation of previous, you may remember my elegant ladies with umbrellas, because I loved to paint them so much I thought I do another painting but with other scenario. I love old city centres, especially in Edinburgh there are so many alleys in Scotland such little streets between the houses called “wynd”. I love the architecture and sandstones, many old buildings still have old fashioned lantern from early 19th century and they are really expensive. We also thought to buy one for our house :)

Now I would like to present you my painting:

My step-by-step process and materials:

First of all I would like to show you how I fix my paper, I use a large wooden wood board and my paper fixed with crepe paper, so that it stays and also I like the endge of painting they have smooth white edge:

Next is a quick sketch, sometimes I do not do that but it is just to know approximately where you have what, while painting with acrylic which is normally I never dilute it covers completely my sketch and it is not possible to see where is what, by the way I use pastel pencil and even if there are mistakes I never erase them because it will be covered with paint anyway.

By the way, I wanted to show you my textured paper, I love it and here are my colors:
all primary colors that later I mix to create other tones:

-my favorite Cadmium Yellow and Cadmium Red,
-Cyan Blue and I use a bit of Ultramarine, just to mix darker grey tones.
-Also there is a bit of Raw Umber and Burnt umber those two I just use to create black tone
-Of course you can't do anything without a Star- Titanium White

I usually use flat brush and darker values as first layer:

I love these double arch and at this stage I am a bit anxious if everything works out for me or not. I usually take colors with brush and kind of mixing on paper so that there are still separately visible every single color, otherwise you will have a third color very neutral. So my advice:

Do not mix colors on palette, but on your canvas
