Thoughts on Transformational Festivals and Costa Rica | Part 2
I like these festivals for the Art...
So in the first post of my thoughts on these transformational festivals I went a bit on a rant about how pretentious the whole experience can be. While they do help some people open their minds a little more, there almost always seems to be this exploitation undertone floating about...
Like I've said before, we can swim right through the bull shit and get in on the real fun!
For me it's the art the music and the workshops.
Even though I spent most of my time at the playground in the Kids Zone, I got to explore a bunch, alone and with the whole family! Some of the stages were really incredible.
Take this one for example, decorated with driftwood and living gardens:
I always loved the artistic imagination that goes into creating these structures... shouldn't stages or a DJ booths be works of art too?
I'm glad I don't take acid anymore, I'm not sure how I would have handle this next stage. You never know when some unsuspected object comes to life!!!
Again, beautiful and mostly done with natural materials but i don't know about these giant snakes and that face would be a little on the dark side of things for me if I was still playing with psychedelics!
And look, another snake,
And here's another stage with live plants:
These guys had made this really awesome structure with bamboo and bicycle tubes to tie it all together... the kids absolutely loved it, I'm planing on building something just like it for us on the land for sure.
So much to see, so little time... and there's always that feeling of being in the middle of something when it is happening. It's hard to put into words and it definitely isn't much on a photo. It's the workshop atmosphere. I listened to Daniel Pinchbeck on the effects of psychedelics in festival settings and the carbon footpring created by such events, I went to a precious plastic workshop and got to play a little with some homemade plastic recycling machines (something I would like to build on the homestead one day) and other talks from permaculture to self-love.
I'm not really big on yoga, but Jessi-K went to a few classes 😁 so I was happy for her. She's always out and abput doing that yogurt thing!
Scattered through the grounds were these murals that were mostly painted live for the duration of the festival. I only have a few photos that I like so here they are:
Overall, it was a pretty amazing festival. outside of the things I talked about in the first part of this post, there were so many families, the kids had tons of fun. Our little homie met two girls he really likes.... I think we witnessed his first love!!! We definitely made some good friends, all of us.
Would I go again.... Yes I think so, especially if we get an artist entry like we did. This time we'll know ahead of time that we had access to all the VIP areas wich offered free cofee, ice cold water, nice lounging in the shade and SHOWERS!!!!!
See you next time...

Some amazing art! I wish more festivals went to this kind of effort 💯🐒
Yeah it's really awesome that some do.... Thanks for your visit 😁
