New Tech News - The Pre-CES 2019 Edition!
There will more than likely be a massive New Tech News coming after the 8th, when the Consumer Electronics Show of 2019 reveals all of the amazing technology that is to come this year! There will surely be plenty in the realm of eSports and gaming!
But while we wait, I thought I might touch on a couple pieces that are making headlines now!
NFL and Alexa
If you're a football fan (not footy, the Murican stuff) and own an Amazon Alexa product, a new add-on has rolled out that will bring you monotone joy!
Your assistant, with the help of "The Rookies Guide to the NFL", will now become a wealth of knowledge to get you geared up for every big game. Not to mention, if a novice spectator has a question, Alexa can answer it so you never have to take your attention away from the game!
It has a massive database containing profiles and stats of every pro player, game technicals, and even can define a thousand football terms! If you don't know ANYTHING about football and have someone you need to impress, you can easily learn everything there is to know about the game, how it is played, and the best teams. Not to mention, who has won what against whom since the dawn of the NFL.
But if you aren't a rookie and are a hardcore fan that knows it all, this is still a great resource! But you might be a bit more interested in the other add-on NFL 60, which provides daily news and updates!
Gaems releases new portable gaming environment
You may have seen when I wrote about the Gaems case that was a plug and play solution for the casual gamer on the go.
Well, I was expecting to see this announcement for quite some time with the massive boom of attention to competitive gaming.
So enters the Guardian Pro XP. The original was capable of fitting the last two or three generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles but was limited. This latest incarnation will be able to hold pretty much any generation of the latest consoles, PLUS several types of micro ATX PCs.
But that isn't the only improvement. This version is built to cater to the professional gamer and streamer/content creator. It has an improved built-in screen inside the hard case that is touted to be super low latency. At 24” the Quad-HD anti-glare IPS screen is a massive improvement and comes alongside a pretty powerful speaker system (and, of course, an audio jack for the stealth gamer). It even has an optional HDMI output and a mounting rail for mics, cameras, and other streaming necessities.
There isn't a listing yet, but I would expect to pay somewhere around $300 for this all-in-one-plug-and-play system. It is expected to drop in the spring or summer of this year.
I have the old one on my wishlist but I might have to wait for this version!
A new console is slated to arrive
With a name like Slightly Mad it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that claims from the company might seem a little crazy.
But Ian Bell, the CEO, has at the very least, gotten people talking with an announcement.
Bell claims that he is working on a console the will rival and surpass both the PlayStation and Xbox systems. It appears to be a VR console that supports all headsets on the market, touts 120 FPS (60 per eye) and will be as powerful, if not more so than the PCs in years to come.
That is a mighty huge promise for the Mad Box console and it earned quite a bit of scepticism and backlash on Twitter. Not only for the unimaginable claims but for the unorthodox and casual announcement. But through conversations on Twitter, it appears that he is in the talks with Vive, Oculus, NVIDIA, and AMD for development.
We don't and won't know much as to specs until it is further along in development, but one thing is for sure... it looks pretty sweet!
