This was the 38th week of our post promotions for STEM Saturday on the Steem blockchain, and our little (but growing) community occupies the top of /promoted for the 38th consecutive Saturday. Promotion prices and competition for the top of the /promoted page remain low, so I filled the page with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) posts again.

If you are a STEM enthusiast, please consider following the authors that follow and joining our community.

Promotions included the following posts (in alphabetical order, by author). Each author has been set as a 5% beneficiary on this post. All posts were passed through three different online plagiarism checks.

@jorgebgtAn exoplanet with eternal nights and eternal days.

Astronomers from Germany's Max Planck Institute for Astronomy discovered a rocky exoplanet in the habitable zone of a star that's 31 light years from our solar system. It's similar in mass to the Earth and could have liquid water, but it has the distinction that one half of the planet is constantly facing the star that it orbits while the other half is always facing away. The research team suggests that the planet would be a good candidate for study by the James Webb Space Telescope.

@sarahjay1Neanderthals caught and roasted crabs to eat them

Excavations at the Figueira Brava cave have led to insights about Neanderthals spanning from 106 thousand to 86 thousand years ago. In the latest effort, paleontologists from the University of Lisbon examined the remains of marine animals and determined that Neanderthals were cooking and eating crabs before 86 thousand years ago. The shell fish would have been harvested about 2 miles from the cave, then carried to the site for cooking and consumption.

@truth2Artificial Intelligence to Improve Healthcare

Five hundred AI health initiatives are already approved by the FDA for operation in the United States. Most of these involve the analysis of images at large scales and high speeds. These can be used for diagnostics, recognizing anatomic pathologies, and process automation. Surprisingly, the FDA started approving AI for use in the health field as early as 1995. The US Government Services Administration has an AI challenge to drive better health care outcomes. Submissions are due by March 20, and winners will be announced on May 12.

About STEM Saturday

If members would like to have your own STEM content considered for future promotions, please come join us and start contributing. I don't know how long I'll be continuing the tradition, but while I do, here are the minimum requirements for consideration (subject to change without notice ;-).

  1. Original, plagiarism-free content
  2. Minimum word count: currently 300 words, but this may be adjusted.
  3. The content must not be cross-posted on other web sites or blockchains. Correct use of the #steemexclusive tag is encouraged.
  4. English language. (sorry, it's the only one I know)
  5. Because a post leaves /promoted at payout time, posts created shortly before STEM Saturday may be more likely to be chosen than older posts.

All community members are invited to create original and exclusive content that can be considered for future promotions.

Please help grow the science & technology audience on the Steem blockchain by following the Science and Technology on the Social Blockchain Facebook page then liking & sharing our links!
