  1. SpaceX may be a $120 billion company if its Starlink global internet service takes off, Morgan Stanley Research predicts - In May, a CNBC report valued SpaceX at $33 million, a $10 billion improvement over estimates in 2017. Now, a new report from Morgan Stanley suggests that if the company stays on track for its plans to provide low-latency broadband Internet from low-Earth orbit and launch 12,000 satellites by 2027, that value could increase into the range from $52 billion to $120 billion, with a "middle of the road" estimate of $52 billion and a bull case of $120 million. The bear case, if there are problems with the satellite launches or Internet delivery, puts the valuation at $5 billion. A valuation of $120 billion would put the company into the same ball-park with companies like Verizon, General Electric, JP Morgan, or Fannie Mae.

  2. VanEck, SolidX Withdraw Bitcoin ETF Proposal From SEC Review - After numerous delays, and with a final deadline for a SEC decision of October 18, a proposed rule change to list public shares of the VanEck SolidX Bitcoin Trust was withdrawn on Friday (September 13). This marks the second time that VanEck has withdrawn similar proposals. The SEC is still reviewing proposals for two other Bitcoin funds, one by Wilshire Phoenix has an initial deadline at the end of September, and another by Bitwise Asset Manager will be approved or rejected by October 13.

  4. How a New Leader Broke Through a Culture of Accuse, Blame, and Criticize - This podcast and transcript cover an interview with Harvard's Amy Edmonson about her book on the topic of applying the manufacturing concept of 0-defects to health care for children. The book focuses on management efforts by Julie Morath when she was the chief operating officer of Children's Hospital and Clinics, in Minneapolis. Edmonson says that one of the central features of Morath's effort to change corporate culture was "blameless reporting", which could be implemented with or without anonymous reporting. She also strived to implement 0-defects, where mistakes may happen, but detection and correction measures before the end of the process insure that the delivered product is defect free. Other aspects that she focused on was the "cultural divide" between doctors and other workers in the hospital, and the need for multiple perspectives when analyzing complex systems. By framing the problem of errors as something that is inherent to complex systems, Edmonson says that Morath overcame the problem of resistance to create a "fearless organization", which cultivated a culture where people were eager to help.
