[STEEM ATLAS UPDATE @ 20 Nov '24] The Steem Atlas is now on steematlas.com...

in #steem-atlaslast month

Thank you for all the great feedback on the launch of our new Steem Atlas project.

Following the very positive reception we have brought forward the move of the site to its own domain...

Picking up on the comments on the launch post the @pennsif.witness team have been working hard to fix some initial bugs and improve the performance of the site.

Updates so far...

  1. The site has moved to its permanent domain...
  1. The site is now going through a CDN to improve performance.

  2. Optimisations have been made to the code to help improve performance.

  3. Layout changes have been made so the site now works on iPad's.

  4. The robustness of detection for old posts with added Steem Atlas code has been improved.

Coming soon...

  1. Further changes to the code and layout to continue with performance improvements.

  2. Further optimisations to layout on mobile devices.

  3. An initial search system to find latest posts.

  4. An admin facility to hide irrelevant or abusive posts.

On the near horizon...

  1. Expansion of the search system.

  2. A curation system to highlight the best posts each day / week.

We have many more 'blue sky' ideas (gamification anyone 😉) but they will be revealed as usage and resources permit.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

We are particularly interested in what sort of search options people would like.

In the meantime we look forward to people adding new (and old) posts to the Steem Atlas.

If you make a post for Steem Atlas please include #steem-atlas as one of the first four tags so we can look out for your post. We will be voting on the best ones 😃

PLEASE NOTE : If you post through Steem Atlas your posting key is not retained or collected by our site in anyway. It remains purely client-side in your browser.

A Pennsif.Witness Project

The Steem Atlas has been developed by the @pennsif.witness team of @pennsif, @rexthetech and @freelance.monkey.

The team has many plans to develop and expand the Steem Atlas.

Much will depend on the feedback from users, the amount of usage, and the resources we have available.

If you would like to support the project, please consider voting for @pennsif.witness.

We believe Steem Atlas has great potential to promote Steem to the wider world and attract new people to the platform.

Please help it live long and prosper...

Thank you.

Just added a post for my travel to Cayo Sal...

Things that should be useful to add:

  • Search bar, like google maps. Write "Barquisimeto", for example and get to the city.
  • Themes, again let's learn from the boss, google maps. Let change the theme, if people wants to see it like an old map it's ok, but add more themes like the modern one in Apple/Google maps
  • Custom suggestions, following the AI trend you could add a feature to ask to some IA what places should I visit if I want to go to a restaurant near me... and get some posts to visually see some places that could interest you (don't let AI in full 100% free, give a pro version paying Steem and burn them if you can! that's a great opportunity to get more Steem buyers on monthly basis!)

Good job, I really like this project.

Good you managed to post okay.

And thank you for the suggestions. We will take these on board for future development.

Good idea on the Pro version !

Now it works perfectly for me. Wow.

Even old posts are now displayed. I think I'll have a look through a few of my reports and add them later... and discover more interessting places on earth/steematlas.

Thank you very much for this exciting project.

Good to hear it all works well for you now.

More improvements coming soon...

I've finally had some time to take a good look at this...

Wow!

It's amazing.

It would be great if we get more recent content on it (I'll need to go through and update my old posts so that they appear) and I noticed a few posts have been updated to say "Moved to Hive" - should I send you links of these if I find any more (or remember where the ones I saw are)?

I'd be interested to hear what kind of traffic the site is attracting and any other analytics that you can share...?

Glad you like.

I am hoping Steem Atlas can present a different view to the world of Steem.

This beta version still lacks much of the refinement and many of the features we are hoping to include.

Resources permitting we will be releasing a new version early in January with new functionality such as search and filtering.

There is much more that can be done with it.

There is already a 'Hide' facility in the admin, so if you spot any Moved to Hive posts do let me know.

There have been some new posts added already, but I will be starting the promotion proper when the new version is out.

Please do add any of your older posts to Steem Atlas.

Hi. Very cool idea! I even found publications about my country. I will follow the project. Good luck with the development and achieving your goals. I also really liked the design of the site.

Glad you like the site.

I look forward to seeing move posts from Moldova...

I'll have to see what interesting things I have. I'll definitely add them.

Awesome. Works great. Easy to pin … and edit back on Steemit …

Terima kasih @irawandedy atas diskusinya...🙏

That's great that you have been able to use Steem Atlas.

We are continuing to make refinements and improvements to the site every day.

Thank you for the feedback.

We will be making further improvements to the posting interface this coming week.

Hi @pennsif,
sorry if I'm bothering you with an off-topic issue.
You received 1 STEEM from me yesterday, which you may have overlooked in your wallet. These are supposed to multiply like a chain. Each user adds one STEEM and passes it on. This is a fundraising campaign for Uganda. You can read more information here:
https://steemit.com/hive-146118/@chriddi/7-jahre-auf-dem-steem-1-steem-fuer-uganda
If you would like to take part in the campaign, please use the same memo I sent you when transferring 2 STEEM. You can also simply send 1 STEEM back to me and I will start a new donation chain.
Thank you... :-)

Congratulations. The Steem Atlas is really cool.

In the meantime we look forward to people adding new (and old) posts to the Steem Atlas.

I have been trying since yesterday and finally added this code to my existing post (location: Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan):

[//]:# (!steemitworldmap 36.09639223 lat 74.55355827 long d3scr)|

To this travel diary of mine:

https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@soulfuldreamer/travel-diary-gilgit-baltistan-through-the-karakoram-highway-may-26th-to-may-28th-2024

This post will appear on your atlas eventually? Am I right?

We'll investigate this to find what the problem is.

I was also interested and found the pin:

Wow. That's great!

I couldn't find it yesterday.

Thank you for using Steem Atlas🙂

Thank you

Recently I traveled to a very beautiful place and I would like to share a post. How can I place my post there? And what suggestions do you have for me?
