STEEM ATLAS : Curation Guidelines for February 2025
The Steem Atlas team is delighted to have the use of a Community Curation account for the month of February.
It is a great opportunity to introduce more people to the Steem Atlas project.
We very much believe that Steem Atlas can present an exciting new window on Steem to the wider world.
During February we hope we can encourage people to produce high quality posts about places they know and love across the globe.
What is Steem Atlas
Steem Atlas provides a new interface to the many thousands of place or location based posts on the Steem blockchain.
It already has over 40,000 posts that were inherited from the old Steemit Worldmap project.
Now we want to start adding many more new posts to help make Steem Atlas an attractive, interesting and useful resource for people looking to find out about places anywhere in the world.
What we are looking for
Steem Atlas isn't just about tourist attractions - it is about any place or location.
Posts can be about...
- tourist attractions
- holiday destinations
- mountains & lakes
- museums & galleries
- theatres
- sport venues & stadiums
- zoos, animal sanctuaries & wildlife parks
- churches, temples & places of worship
- restaurants, cafes, bars & any type of eating place
- shops & shopping malls
- universities, colleges & schools
In fact any places or locations that you can locate on Steem Atlas.
We are looking for posts about specific places or locations.
We are NOT looking for Diary Game posts that happen to mention one or more places.
If you visited a restaurant or took the children to a theme park then write a whole post about the specific place.
We like detail and useful information - include opening times, entrance prices, car parking charges, and details of how to get to there.
Also include links for further information about the place for example their website and social media details.
If you include any prices, as well as the local currency please also include equivalent prices in STEEM or US$ - or at least include the current exchange rate.
We like photos - but be selective - only use the best ones you have taken, and make them big and clear.
Also it is very good to include a descriptive caption under each photo.
Posts should be about places you have personally visited with photos you have taken.
We definitely do not want plagiarised or AI generated content - anyone found to be making that sort of post will be blocked from Steem Atlas.
The Old as well as the New
As well as making new posts for Steem Atlas you can also add old posts that are relevant through the simple addition of a Pin Location Code.
This is a great way to earn extra rewards from old posts by the addition of new comments or by making compilation posts.

February is going to be an exciting month for the Steem Atlas project.
We hope as many people as possible will join us on the journey to make Steem Atlas a valuable resource.

I presume we can add post and pictures of places we visited some time ago, as long as the photos are our own?
Yes that is no problem to post to places you have visited in the past.
It might be useful to include the date you visited each place to give better context for information in the post.
You can also add old relevant posts, and potentially earn rewards on those posts...

I hope you can make some posts for Steem Atlas about places in Aceh.
Of course, I will probably take my best friend for a walk to capture some beautiful moments and places in Aceh, both tourist attractions, historical places, other places that will probably be a source of information for other friends.

I added a post of a few weeks ago but it wasn't easy to load the atlas (the pinned posts didn't show). I left the site open and at a certain point (after hours) it suddenly showed and the pin worked but it's really hard to find the right place/street/spot to pin. Is there a trick (typing country and address or?) Especially with a phone this would be very welcome.

It will likely take a while to load if you have a slower mobile connection.
There is a lot of information to load!
It's a long loading time but I will try again. Just the searching for the right spot is a pain.

It will be great if you can make some posts on Steem Atlas about places in the Philippines.
Connecting posts to the Steem Atlas map was very interesting for me. I have vowed to add my posts here since I was able to find it appropriate. I've already added the post here, even though it was a diary game. I will use the steem atlas to post about specific places around me according to the guidelines. My blog with Steem Atlas. ✌️
That will be great. It will be good to get more posts about places in Bangladesh on Steem Atlas.

How do I tell? I already noted three different ways to improve my future posts! ;)
Adding the pin to older posts is also a fantastic idea but frankly, I probably will not do this as I would like the posts I add to Atlas (awesome title, by the way!) to be the best I could create given what is desired to be seen as pin-stories :)

Start by making a post as normal on steemit.com and then just getting the pin location coded from Steem Atlas.

Apakah postingan dibuat langsung di steem atlas ataukah membuat postingan di steemit.com kemudian menyalin kodenya dari steem atlas?
