Taking a Walk on a Cool, Yet Beautiful Day

in #nature6 years ago (edited)

I decided to take the Canon 7D out on our walk with the little one, AKA Harvey Nuthman. It was quite a chilly day in old England that day, but quite honestly I prefer it when going on long walks. Harvey the Dog absolutely loves his walks!

One key thing about Harvey that you should know. Never ask him if he would like to go for a walk unless you are prepared to physically leave the house within 5 minutes of the suggestion. He will be yelping for the forseeable future until you actually leave the house - and even then he will continue to screech even halfway down the street. It takes a while for him to get his excitement under control. Oh, to be a dog.

The sky was a bit grey and there was quite a breeze coming through but everything looked so beautiful. The sky was a strange color making everything seem a bit more vivid than usual. Whenever I go home to California, this is one of the things that I really miss the most about being in the UK.

I have thought quite often about just going ahead and moving there permanently. Especially with all of the crazy political nonsense happening here back home - which I will not get into! Suffice it to say that it is exhausting! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be much better in the UK at the moment with the Brexit drama unfolding each day.

As you can see, Harvey loves to find the spot with the most loose dirt, mud or water and plop down into it. It is always a major operation when we get home, because I have to immediately pick him up and carry him directly to the bathtub. It is totally worth it though because he has such a fantastic time every time we take him out.

I'll have to say as well, the walk is really good for Amanda and I. After spending so much time in front of the screen, I really appreciate being able to look out into the distance for a bit. The field where we walk him is on the local horse racecourse so there is plenty of space to relax the eyes and let the dog run off leash.

Surprisingly this day there weren't a lot of other people walking their dogs. This is the popular spot in town to walk them. We end up going much later in the evening though, so a lot of people have already left for home. Often it is getting so dark by the time we leave that we have to put Harvey on the leash a bit early, otherwise he runs off. He likes to test the boundaries of what he can get away with.

One of the things that he does that can get my blood boiling I'll tell you about. He likes to run super far away from us, just to the point where I have to scream at him to make him come back. Then, he won't come back in a straight line, but he makes a gigantic arc. This arc is as wide as physically possible so that he can take as much time as possible to get back to us. I guess I can't blame the little guy. I wish running around a field gave me so much joy.

I really love this particular view for some reason. Something about it is really relaxing to the eyes. This is one of the things that I really regret not being able to experience while living in the city. Nothing but greys around San Pedro where I live. Oh, and the lovely smog, of course.

I can tell that Harvey is starting to lose steam whenever he begins to mosey around at a casual pace. He will walk briskly from one spot to another, and then lay down for a minute or two. Then he springs into action, only to start walking again and lay down.

This is generally our cue that it is time to start heading home!

There is the old Newmarket racecourse building. I previously did a post about a day at the races that we attended. Extremely boring to me, but some really enjoy it.

At this point we are on our way out of the fields and headed back toward the house. The only problem is that when I get home, my father-in-law will have the heater cranked up and I will be sweating up a storm!

Almost home now. You can see that the sun has set and it is starting to get dark. As I mentioned before, sometimes we don't make it out of the field before it gets dark, but it looks like we made it this time. I hope you enjoyed visually joining us on our walk. Until next time, have a great night! Harvey the Dog says hello.

Aaaah Harvey is so adorable! It's great to have such an excitable dog, as long as he's healthy of course. I like doggos who love their walks, it's such a joy to bring them around and bond with them during the journey while also do some sightseeing and photographing.

Congrats for your first curie vote, Mr Nuthman =).

Thanks! And thank you for your support as well.

I want to be friends with Harvey. The dog not coming back to you is a characteristic of my dog also, it really worries me in Thailand because she is so small and the stray dogs that are everywhere there, are not.

Yeah, we can't leave him off the leash hardly anywhere in LA, but in England we have a few fields where we feel okay letting him loose.

It was tye camera effect or actually the awesome weathed. If it is your camera than i would say you got a great gadgets in hand that can click such amazing shots...and if the credit goew to weather i would not deny the ract that anyone can fall in love with it.terrific place to be and also harvey loved it tobe free in such beautiful set up. I think it is a combination of good camera and great weather. Thanks for your comments! It was certainly a great walk for all of us.

Hahaha, Harvey knows how to get the attention that he wants :) What an adorable dog :) Doesn't he mind water? My cousin has a dog that love mud and puddle but giving him a shower is a heroic act :D He would not let you make him wet. He's such a drama queen :D

It looks like Harvey has you under control :) But I understand you.. I would let him do anything as he is so cute.

It looks like you had a nice walk. I always enjoy going for a walk when I spend all days behind the screen. It's very good to relax my eyes.

Thank you for sharing and taking us with you for this nice walk :)

Have a great weekend!

Thanks a lot! And you have a great weekend as well. Harvey doesn't really like the water but he doesn't fight me. He just stands under the water and sulks. Haha

What a wonderful photo essay. You dog looks so happy, especially in the first awesome shot. I love the color in the second one. You picked a great location for your walk.

I went to the races once, and like you was very bored. Lots of waiting around for one minute of action, and then you can not even tell what happened!

Yeah, the races are not my cup of tea! I may go again one day. Perhaps if I become rich and want to bet on horses. I will arrive in a top hat with a monacle, and a bubble pipe.

lol - or just buy the horse with your millions and let other people fool with it :)

Such rich natural colors. Low sun in the sky gives things a different look. :-)

Yeah, I love this time of day. Especially when you get these kinds of colors!

Hey Rick!
Really nice photos, the fields look really green.
Harvey looks really happy with these walks!

Yes, he totally loves it. We really enjoy our walks!

Haha Harvey seems to be having time of his life :D It actually always used to happen with our dog haha, that immediately if you show signs of going out, she was going alll crazy haha :D

Btw pretty nice pictures I gotta say :) From the previous posts (the design con), I had the feeling you're taking pics just with ur smartfore or so. The pre-last one is my favorite! What's the correct word? Translate tells me penultimate but it sounds weird.

Yeah, I have a great camera but don't always take it with me because it is kind of heavy. So the con photos are all from my android, and these were taken with my Canon 7D.

Penultimate means 2nd to last... We don't use it as much as the British do, but I understand!

Your doing well in the south, bad weather here today.

Whenever I go home to California, this is one of the things that I really miss the most about being in the UK

I miss the lovely sun there too and wish it was here all the time. Grey sky to me is depressing. Being an Englishman, I have seen enough of this to last me forever.

Hehe. I feel your pain, my friend. We are back in LA now. It has been quite chilly actually. Super windy!

I'm trying to figure out just where you live? Or do you flit between both countries.

Man that camera quality is next level! Beautiful dog too :) good to hear you’ve had a good day, and keeping up with the posts! I’ve been taking a break recently, but also having fun in California 😀 love it here

Thanks! I am actually pretty decent at shooting manual/RAW on my Canon 7D. I just don't take it out much anymore because it gets boring to lug it around.

What part of Cali are you in?
