L'Immortalità: potere o condanna? (ITA)

Cosa spaventa tutti noi esseri viventi se non la paura della morte?
E se ci fosse offerta la possibilità di diventare immortali, di eliminare questa paura, di vivere per un tempo indefinito?
Voi cosa fareste? Accettereste senza esitare?

Prima di prendere una decisione bisognerebbe considerare tutti pro e i contro che derivano da tale scelta.

Il potere dell'Immortalità

L'immortalità è innanzitutto un grande potere.
E' il potere di togliere totalmente valore al bene più prezioso e limitato che ogni essere vivente ha: il Tempo.

Non esisterebbero più secondi, minuti, ore, giorni, anni.
Non esisterebbero più scelte.
Immaginate di avere una carta di credito con fondi illimitati. Pensereste un nano secondo a cosa comprare?

Uno dei vantaggi dell'essere immortale sarebbe quello di poter leggere tutti i libri del mondo e accumulare una conoscenza enorme.
Si potrebbe girare il mondo intero e perlustrare ogni suo angolo più recondito.
Si avrebbe la possibilità di vivere tante vite diverse.

L'immortalità è anche il potere di eliminare la paura di farsi male, di morire.

Si potrebbe scalare l'Everest a mani nude senza aver paura di cadere.
Si potrebbe attraversare un deserto senza aver paura di morire di sete.

Insomma tutto o quasi diventerebbe possibile.

La condanna dell'Immortalità

Ma siamo sicuri che avere tanto potere porti anche la felicità?

Essere immortali significa non provare più l'emozione e la soddisfazione che deriva dal completare una sfida come ad esempio scalare una montagna.
Ogni cosa diventerebbe "facile".

Essere immortale comporterebbe vedere le proprie persone care morire, tenere la mano ai propri figli in letto di morte e provare il dolore che ogni genitore non vorrebbe neanche immaginare di provare.
Essere immortale diventerebbe presto più una condanna che un potere.

Immortalità? No grazie

Voglio vivere ogni emozione della mia vita pensando che potrebbe essere l'ultima.
Voglio vivere ogni sorriso di mia figlia pensando alla sua prossima gioia e non essere consapevole di dover vivere il suo ultimo respiro.

Vorrei sicuramente avere più tempo da vivere in salute con i miei affetti, ma essere immortale...no grazie.

What scares us all living beings if not the fear of death?
And if we were offered the possibility of becoming immortal, of eliminating this fear, of living for an indefinite time?
What would you do? Would you accept without hesitation?

Before making a decision one should consider all the pros and cons that result from this choice.

The power of Immortality

Immortality is above all a great power.
It is the power to totally remove value from the most precious and limited good that every living being has: Time.

Seconds, minutes, hours, days, years would no longer exist.
There would be no more choices.
Imagine having a credit card with unlimited funds. Would you think a second what to buy?

One of the advantages of being immortal would be to be able to read all the books in the world and accumulate enormous knowledge.
You could go around the world and search every hidden corner of it.
There would be the possibility of living many different lives.

Immortality is also the power to eliminate the fear of getting hurt, of dying.

You could climb Everest with your bare hands without being afraid of falling.
You could cross a desert without being afraid of dying of thirst.

In short, everything would become possible.

The condemnation of Immortality

But are we sure that having so much power will make you happy?

Being immortal means not feeling the excitement and satisfaction that comes from completing a challenge like climbing a mountain.
Everything would become "easy".

Being immortal would mean seeing your loved ones die, holding your child's hand on your death bed and experiencing the pain that any parent would never want to feel.
Being immortal would soon become a condemnation rather than a power.

Immortality? No thanks

I want to experience every emotion of my life thinking that it could be the last.
I want to live every smile of my daughter thinking about her next joy and not being aware of having to live her last breath.

I would surely have more time to live healthy with my affections, but being immortal ... no thanks.
