Babymoon - PART IIII

Singapore: The Conservatories

cloud dome 1.jpg

Time was and is still limited, since becoming a mum and going back to work this post has taken me weeks to finish even broken into bite-sized pieces, so without further ado, I now give you the final part to our pre-adoption babymoon adventure.

All prior parts have now paid out but you can still check them our below:

Part I: Clarke Quay

PART II: Marina Bay Sands

Part III: Singapore: Gardens by the Bay

The Conservatories

Like Super Tree Grove we discussed in Part III: Singapore: Gardens by the Bay, the two conservatories are found in the South Bay. They are hard to miss and can be seen from many vantage points around Singapore. Both domes are air-conditioned and sit at a reasonable 23-25 Celsius which makes a welcome change from the humidity outside.

There is a cost to entry for the two domes but nothing exorbitant, it's well worth the price and you can get passes out to return on the same day.

Flower Dome

The flower dome is the largest glass greenhouse and lives within a perpetual spring. The displays and themes change regularly even if the seasons don't.

cactus.jpg

I have a thing for plants that are hard to kill, so cactus's fall into one of my favourite plant types and the flower dome didn't disappoint, some may remember the woolly cactus (above left) from my What is it Contest.

fav cactus.jpg

I couldn't help myself, you are lucky I'm not posing with it... What do you ask? Keep your mind out of the garden, it just looks like a cactus... And maybe a penis... What I said garden, not gutter... haha...

flower cycle.jpg

There are many flowers within the dome but it was also the school holidays and the main displays were quite overcrowded so we avoided that section and found some pretty flowers that had all stages of life from birth to death that I had to snap and share with you.

One other thing that was all throughout the dome was these wooden carvings that were fantastic to see and more interesting to us than the flowers of the season. The dragon was huge and a fav of my hubby @shai-hulud, I loved the owl and the rabbits playing the fools.

Cloud Forrest

Cloud Forrest was by far the coolest of the two, not in temperature but due to the largest internal waterfall in the world which creates this magical feeling from the minute you enter the dome.

waterfall.jpg

You not only get to see the waterfall but climb up the manmade testament to engineering and see it from above. The mist it creates helps water many of the plants and flowers that live within the dome.

from above.jpg

It is home to many types of flowers including mini orchids and the famous carnivorous pitcher plants, many of these plants live on top of each other in nature and it is no different here, they have created flower walls as well as specialised gardens.

To add something extra for the school holidays they created a Lego flower display for us to enjoy featuring many of the carnivous flowers living within the dome.

Where there are flowers there are sure to be bugs, the famous red back, growing up in the country and living in a bus with an outhouse as the only toilet while the house and bathrooms got built, I got used to checking under the seat for these sneaky bitey buggers.

As always thanks for reading, here is a giant snail for some fun to end the post. I couldn't resist, I have a thing for snails and this is not the only image of being with a giant one. haha... Have a great weekend!

Looks like you had really a lot of fun!

@psyceratopsb It was fun and a great way to spend some time together pre picking up our son. :D

I love a good conservatory, and this one is a good one for sure! The wood carving are very cool, the flowers (did I see big Venus Flytraps in there, the waterfall...architecture all amazing!!

Totally looked like a big furry penis/balls :)

Passing this off the hive; let's hope c-squared pays a visit :)

Thanks hun, it did like a giant sized cock and balls. Im a giant teeneager at heart clearly as beside my hubby and I nonone else was giggling or snapping photos of the special cacti. Lol.

The wood art was truely amazing and the meat eating flowers were pretty cool too. Some of them can eat a baby monkey, not as cool for the monkey but nature is amazing.

hahahah that would totally be us @insideoutlet!! I always say that Brian and I together have the mind of a 15 year old boy lol

omg, a baby monkey! That's crazy. I'd hate to witness that one. Gross. But amazing!

@lynncoyle1 Yeah can't say I would be happy to see that, I think I would try to rescue it, I am sure it can't eat me lol.

@insideoutlet, I wonder what it would feel like getting your arm or something in one of those? Could it bite your finger off I wonder? So weird!

Nah I think they get a bit stuck and then there are acids that slowly dissolve you into something they can absorb, quite gross and fascinating at the same time.

sculptures.jpg

It's amazing how they are able to make such detailed sculptures with nothing but wood! Marvelous!

I know, they were amazing. How they do it without breaking it amazes me.

I LOVE Singapore @insideoutlet - that waterfall in the cloud forest is just incredible and one of my favourite sights anywhere.

Thanks for stopping by @goodwithtravels, it really is a spectacular sight and I was surprised it was so big. Singapore is such an inventive sustainable place to live. Too humid for anything long term though lol.

Haha yes I know exactly what you mean about the humidity @insideoutlet !
