Scriptures or Quran embroidered for humanity
Last Wednesday I was supposed to attend mass but because my aunt had a migraine she bailed out. So what should I do when I have to struggle with my lazy bones to travel 3/4 of the distance to hear mass? I visited the Canadian Textile Museum.
On current exhibit where the work of these artist. I visited the first but was not really impressed to be honest as I have seen far better in my own country .But of course art being subjective and I not being an artist you have to take my word with a grain of salt.
Yes there was a gallery that interest me as it conveys to you that in the tapestry are significant stories yet I must say it was the embroidery on scriptures that really finds me in awe.
The months of labour poured into it,the meticulous details and the love poured into it by countless of its creators just warms my soul. It was a handwork like no other in terms of its global significance. .interfaith , world peace and teamwork to cite a few .
Yes passages known to you are stitched into these .Thus even if I didn't understand the language or text it was written I sort of understand what it's referring to.
I am guessing the first and last were of Moses while the microphone is no fun Joseph the dreamer. To assist visitors there is an English translation beneath.
The Tapestry of the Spirit is a testament that religion is not dead. We may argue about the specific and the practise but many still believe in a supernatural being that created humankind and the universe we dare to conquer.
Maybe by making it into this colourful art form it will reach more people than being printed in black and white paper text or an ebook as is popular in the modern world.
As is done in the movies we are captivated like no other despite the fact we really have by nature a very limited attention span.
Yes this place house classes any workshop and exhibits with textiles involved. Yes they have an international collection But I must say this Tapestry of Spirit was my favorite
Because it doesn't just praise the workmanship of the indigenous tribe of Canada like above or of Japanese like below but rather speak of timeless wisdom applicable even to modern times
We all can learn important values vital to our survival .For one ,always we should aspire for peace
Two, care for our one and only home the Earth we live in by being exemplary steward of the natural resources we are blessed with
Finally to seek the light that embarked the three wise men to a long journey .
All being said these make this project so precious to me. I am grateful that the museum allowed me to see it for free. You should see this one as well. Here are few details you may want to consider.
Irregardless of the method, it cannot be refuted that this artwork brings so much relaxation not only to the one who labors but also much understanding to those who gives more than his eyes to see.
For this I'm grateful not only because it was pay what you can Wednesday and in my case free as I forgot to bring money but more so because it reinforces my belief that there is a supreme being in charge.
With him,no skill is ever so small to lack in importance to humanity
