Steemit Engagement Challenge 2: This Year's Holiday visit - Here are my travel Plans
Introduction
I am delighted to write this entry for the Steemit engagement challenge. This particular contest hosted by SteemWomensclub is all about detailing my holiday or travel plans for the year. My own travel plans for this year is about a planned visit to my sister, who together with the husband, owns a very large poultry farm in a remote part of Aba, the city where I live. In this story, I will tell you details of my planned travel and visit. But before I do that, here are some vital elements of my story.
- A brief background about the person/place to be visited
- Why Choose this destination
- My Plans and what I expect from the visit
A brief background about the person/Place to be visited
I have been planning to make this visit to my immediate younger sister's house and farm located at Umuaja village, in Ugwunagbolo local government area of Abia State. My sister Esther is married to Mr Best who is a large-scale commercial farmer in Aba. Together with the husband, they do farming business fulltime. The visit I have been planning to spend some time in their place had not worked out. But this year, I have decided and made plans towards visiting her and spending some time there.
Why Choose this destination
I really want to make this visit not just to see my sister and family, but to observe how their poultry business is going. I really have interest in poultry business and would love to give it a try in the future. But then, there are many technicalities that must be on ground before someone ventures into this business on the scale that my inlaw does. So here are some of the reasons why I choose to visit this location:
Learn about Structures needed for Poultry business: I have always discoursed with my inlaw and my sister, and they try to explain some of the things that must be constructed to start a poultry business. It includes the Pen, storage structures and many other things. So through this visit, I want to see first hand, the type of structures they have constructed for their farm, and how best to go about it. I need to tell you that Bestars farms, thats their business name, have more than 2000 egg layers and they sometimes produce more than 50 crates of egg daily. You can take a look at the images below:
A section of the farm
Eggs Picked from the farm in one day
Besides the structures needed, I would also try to learn about the finances and other things needed to run the farm
Explore nature and check the barbeque business: The farm is located in a bushy and wooded environment. So visiting it will give me the opportunity to explore nature. I was told there is a stream too, very close to the farm. The last time I visited, I could not reach the stream. But this time, I will surely get there.
Besides the nature exploration, I will also visit the Chicken barbeque business my sister started. The farm is not only about egg production, they also deal on browler birds for meet production. So I will also visit the small business. The barbeque is a little but closer to shops and away from the farm. The last time I went, I captured an image of the person handling that aspect of the business.

My Plans and What I expect from the visit
I have already starting arranging for the things I will need for the travel. I already spoke with my sister and accommodation wont be an issue. They have a large house with a nice visitors room. So I have saved money on that accommodation issue. Besides accommodation, I have already purchased the following to enhance my visit:
- Sneaker Shoe: For this kind of visit, I need a very good shoe to protect my legs as I walk through the forest. I have already purchased a good shoe which will be suitable for the visit. It is both light and tough, able to protect my legs and suitable for rough terrain. You got the shoe below at a price of NGN12,000 (60 Steem)
My Sneaker shoe ready for the visit
- Leather backpack: For this kind of travel, I will need a few belongings to go with me. The most suitable type of bag is a backpack. Having a backpack will enable me keep my belongings together and safe, while having my hands free to take photograph and other things. So in preparation for this visit, I already bought this backpack at a rate of NGN4500 (22.5 Steem)
Quality leather backpack
- Other Things: I will go with some cash and my ATM cards so that i can withdraw money in Nearby POS if I run out of cash. I will also buy a few provisions and packaged food. I will not like to be so much of a burden to the family. So I will take most of the things I will need. Before I travel, I will also buy a power bank so that i will not run out of power for my devices.
Conclusion
This would be my first trip to a very large farm owned by my sister and the husband. i hope to enjoy the trip, to learn as much as I could about egg production and other aspects of poultry business. I will enjoy a lot of chicken foods in this journey. So if you would like some chicken or eggs, I might bring some for you. I expect to make this journey by July. I will give you updates about the visit once I do so.
Thank you so much for reading my story.

Hello @focusnow friend, I think this trip would be very interesting because you will learn everything you want to know about the chicken farm and also enjoy some rest time on vacation.
Here in Venezuela chicken farms are very common, you can start with few chicks and then you already have many because they reproduce quickly, if you are going to undertake a business like this, I wish you the best of success.
