Fairphone 2. Ecology, anti-war attitude
Today I bring you another of the ecological devices that really fights for several causes, besides offering non-conventional materials, is an attempt to redefine the principles of the current production of smartphones which is dyed in blood products of violent disputes for the extraction of coltan one of the main components for the manufacture of smartphones, I present Fairphone 2. The main objective of this Dutch company is to propose new forms of production in the field of mobile telephony that allows to be more supportive with the environment, as well as to minimize conflicts in certain countries where the main brands of the mobile market have taken advantage of obtaining cheaper raw material regardless of the human cost.
Another interesting feature of Fairphone 2 is that it is a device that can be repaired with a minimum of knowledge since the parts can be easily replaced, which extends the useful life of the product. If we count the tons of technological scrap that is generated annually as a result of an annual launch and more ranges of devices among the brands that compete with each other to get the smartphone with more performance.
Another problem generated by the manufacture of smartphones are the assembly lines, which have even minors working, work long hours and earn almost nothing, so the appearance of a device like Fairphone 2 is just and necessary to try to change the behavior of companies in their mode of production harmful and unsustainable.
I think very few people are really aware of what an increase in food production will mean, there is almost no water and we also have serious problems with global pollution. All these indicators foreshadow a not very sustainable future for human survival, making us increasingly on the verge of collapse, only because the current production model refuses to rethink a new model to minimize the impacts of the production of goods and services resulting from the extractive activity.
This is what we have inherited from globalization, which although it has allowed a new advance in the growth of certain types of markets and universalized to goods, the problem lies in the exploitation of resources and the exploitation of people only to make profits as a company, and although there has already been talking in different conventions on environmental and social problems the change is happening very slight, only companies like Fairphone 2 is small before monsters like Samsung or Huawei leading companies in the global market.
Among the main features of Fairphone 2 is that it is made of recycled materials, this has been thanks to a policy of the companies to recover components from other discarded mobile phones, so they can use much of its components to make new terminals. Another fundamental aspect in their business model is that they offer the possibility of being able to exchange or repair parts, the smartphones of the last generation come practically sealed and from their engineering, we are never going to know more than their basic characteristics since the policy of each company is to guard the technological secrets.
Despite not being the most powerful smartphone I think they have all the potential to position themselves as a leading brand in the mobile market, has operating system Android Lollipop 5.1, RAM Memory 2 GB, a Screen 5 "Full HD LCD Gorilla Glass 3, and a modest but powerful Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 801.
