Village Initiative: Overcoming 4-Year Drought With Water Pumps And Mutual Cooperation

Our village is now facing a major challenge due to the long drought that has lasted for more than four years. One of the impacts is that the rice fields that are the mainstay of most of the villagers are now experiencing drought. This is exacerbated by the condition of the main dam which has not been repaired by the central government, causing the water supply to the rice fields to stop completely.

Seeing this condition, the village community through joint deliberation, decided to take real steps using village funds. We agreed to install pipes and drill roads to channel water from the nearest river to the rice field area. This project involves the installation of a high-pressure water pump machine which is expected to meet the water needs of agricultural land that has been neglected.

The process of installing the pipe is quite complex. It starts with drilling the road at several strategic points to ensure that the pipe line can be connected directly to the rice field area. This work is carried out carefully by experts from the village who are replaced by the community through mutual cooperation. All parties participate, starting from providing materials, maintaining security, to ensuring that the installation goes according to plan.

The high-pressure water pump machine used is a very efficient technology and is designed to draw water from rivers with large capacities. With this machine, water from the river is expected to flow evenly throughout the rice fields. In addition, this step is also accompanied by an organized water management system, so that each farmer gets the water quota according to their needs without any party being harmed.

Although it requires quite a large cost, the use of village funds for this project is considered very appropriate because the impact is directly felt by the community. In addition to overcoming drought in rice fields, this program also provides new hope for farmers to return to using their land productively.

We hope that this step can be a long-term solution while waiting for the dam repair by the central government. The spirit of mutual cooperation that emerged in this project is proof that togetherness is the main key to facing every challenge that comes. Hopefully, with the presence of water in the rice fields, our village life will be fertile again and the community's economy will rise as before.
