UN(dis)TALENTED: Wekubusters Logo Competition Entry
Today’s art is my submission to the wekubusters logo contest.
About The Logo
Inspired by the word Excellence is the keyword by which this logo was designed.
If it’s fighting plagiarism, spam and all the things that hard working Weku bloggers do not wish to see in this platform this design had to try to convey that.
According to the contest rules it had to contain a lot of wording that frankly made the logo look too congested. When it comes to logos it’s key to “keep it simple dummy.” While those were the goals visually, the request specifically requested a lot of words.
My second challenge was trying to create everything within my style and do something different, I created everything only using my iPad Pro not a computer and I did not use Photoshop or the likes.
The task was created using only my iPad Pro and the proper applications to emulate somewhat other well known softwares.
I actually started creating in 3D not on a vector software or the likes.
Like I said I wanted to create something different worthy of the job that Wekubusters is doing for the Weku platform and its community.
Before continuing good motivational music is a must! Turned on my Spotify Mix 2- By Nikki (yours truly) personal mix. Staying focused is really important.
Started my work in my 3D application and it started evolving only with what little I had to go by and my aim was my private keyword (excellence).
From there with not much but an evolving creative process... all in 3D.
Here’s a quick animation of the long process:
Yes, it’s a creature with unique wings... it forms a W. Wekubusters had a ghost busters avatar (I get that), so my winged sort of ghost-creature came from that m, however I placed a sort of crown to keep within my original themed keyword.
Coloring it was an easier process I went along with the Weku official colors—with a golden touch.
The creative process was entertaining, but the lettering was a challenge. It actually looked cluttered.
Had to change it to be less harsh to the eyes—at least to mine anyway! 😅
Official last logo design.
Made some banners (though this was not in the competition request).
These can go whichever they decide it’s an added bonus anyway and it can always be altered or changed.
Version A
Version B
Well folks hope you guys had fun looking at the process and let me know what you think.
Be sure to vote and share if you really liked it.
Not sure if I will have a chance to try a second logo for this particular competition, time is a valuable thing I do not possess much of these days.
This post has also been posted on Weku, feel free to join me there too!
