Tell A Story To Me Round Up #10 - Win @steembasicincome By Voting!
Win A Prize when you vote for your favourite story!
Welcome back to the second part of round 10, an extra chance to win, whether you entered a story or not!
Read the entries below, let me know which one you liked the most, and why, for a chance to win 1 @steembasicincome
The winner will either be the most well thought out nomination, or if we get a lot of good nominations, chosen at random from those. You don't have to have written a story to vote and win! Just tell me which stories you liked, and why, and which one was your favorite!
When Voting: Think about which story you enjoyed reading the most as well as how well it was written and told. I will be judging first and second place, taking into consideration how will stories fit the initial prompt, I have included all the entries, regardless of who well they fit the prompt/rules for your consideration, cos an amazing story is still an amazing story!
All the authors have also been invited to come back and vote, their votes will be tallied for the Authors Choice Prize of 1SBD and 1 @steembasicincome share. This round, seven authors who vote, and take the time to explain why, will automatically get 1 @steembasicincome share!
If you didn't enter, you can still win a share by voting, cast your vote below for a chance to win 1 @steembasicincome share. Up to three public voters can win, just by saying which story they liked the most. If we get three or more, this will trigger a second prize based on those votes.
The Entries
Here we have, in no order, the entries to vote on! Cast your vote by commenting with the user who you think should win, let me know why you are voting for them to be in with a chance of winning yourself!
I am so sorry if I have missed anyone, give me a shout in the comments and I will update the post and anyone who has already voted
I will have results out on Sunday, so please cast your vote before then. I would say cut off is the end of the day on Saturday, but basically, if I haven't posted winners, you could still win!
Seven authors who give really well thought out reasons for their vote will win 1 @steembasicincome share, as will three members of the public
Thank you so much for the fantastic stories, I am so excited to start judging. I have had a tough few weeks, with the loss of a family member, so really appreciate your patience and understanding (although we all know I always run a bit late)!
Thank you all so much for taking the time to enter - good luck! <3
By no means is anyone asked to resteem, but of course, if we get enough public votes, there will be another prize on offer for the authors!
I kind of liked @agmoore's story - Behind the Door -, it sort of reminded me of the story of the old lady that swallowed a fly oh my. And it was kind of halloweenish. I can never quite remember the end of that story, so her ending and version was different. but it was a good read.
Thank you. It was an unusual take. Grateful that someone appreciated it:)
Eh... let me see.... ok, my vote goes to @bashadow!
My vote goes to @stevescoins. The story grabbed my attention from the start with the idea of waking up 100,000 years later. Thought he did a good job writing the story that tied everything together. Also found it funny!
Thank you! I got the idea from a dream I had, then sat down and started writing. So glad you enjoyed the humor!
That's even better. Meaning love dream inspiration.
I'll have to go with @raj808. I found this poem transcendent. It seemed to come from a primordial well, a blend of lore and instinct, an intuitive reaction. Of course, there is the poetic skill, the firm grasp of style and form, and familiarity with myth. All of this in response to a prompt about a contemplation of death--well, what could be more fitting? So there you go, @raj808, doing something I wouldn't dare.
Greetings, @calluna,
Do we vote here by comments? I am doing it now, finding it the only thing reasonable (that I know of) since the original posts are so old they are past payout.
If I have to do it again somewhere else, please, notify me.
So my author's vote is for @stevescoins and the 'A Hell of a Night's Sleep' - https://steemit.com/tellastorytome/@stevescoins/a-hell-of-a-night-s-sleep-sci-fi-tell-a-story-to-me
That story, while written on a humorous note, which it stays true to, has the most credibility in my opinion. It sticks to dying, awakening and a plausible explanation with a really solid background of the 'why it is possible' part. It's the most unexpected and original resolution of the problem your prompt posed - no magic, no afterlife paradigms and no 'The Matrix' shenanigans. Although it does not cancel the 'before I died' reality.
I love the way 'Roof falls on somebody's head' became a trope.
The final is also among the most satisfactory ones.
Thank you! As I told @cyemela, I got the idea from a dream. I don't know if I should say this or not, but I did find myself laughing as I threw the roof falling in on head bit in each time
I just re-read your post. I'm sorry you've had such a hard time. Loss sometimes sets in after the initial period even more. I wish you peace.
Thank you <3
wow, a lot of good stories.
I'm going to have to go with @bashadow, but I really liked
...the way the lead died in @gaby-crb's story, in sacrificing herself to save a child
...the intensity of @cyemela's story
...how well @theironfelix's art selection matched his story
I am struck by the pretty consistent inclusion of military service as a theme across all the stories, and the second most common theme of Hell.
Heaven as a theme seems to be a hint in some of the stories.
Thanks to all writers to contributing to Steemit!
And for those of you lurkers that would like to write, but always find reasons not to, I'll give some advice I got from Steven King and Jerry Pournelle(I read it in their books ;>)
If you want to be a writer, then WRITE
Even if it's not good, it's practice for the next story; you can only get better as a writer.
Personally, I want to go with @bashadow because I just like the inclusion of an insane asylum background with a conscious prison foreground. Especially when it gets to the processing and how direct the out processing was. Even more so, just the fact that the prisoner was serialized and they forced the prisoner to live it out without an escape from death to only then release them like nothing happened was hysterical. Then again, could be a literal Hell that rather not care for torturing and just give the punishment as-is then add anything extra except for the environment of where it takes place.
{Still finding a way to get my way to self-vote for myself... Dammit I'll find a way and yah'll never see it coming... just like when Plankton shifted to maximum overdrive.}
