Pencil Drawing Competition No. 59 / Nathan Espinoza
Hi everyone, I hope you had a great weekend! This is my first time posting here and I'm glad to be a member of this fun and creative community. I want to share how I made a drawing of my favourite YouTuber, Nathan Espinoza.
Nathan is a 19 yr old that makes fun videos about tech recommendations, latest technology and updates in the tech world. If you've heard about Carter PC's, you'll probably know Nathan too. They make similar content.
Nathan is a big fan of Apple. He talks a lot about Apple products, what he likes about them and new features. And this just stood out about him that I wanted to create something to show it. I wanted the brand to literally grow from his head.
The tools I used were:
- Charcoal Pencil
- Charcoal Powder
- Graphite pencil for grid lines
- Filbert brush and flat brush
- Kneaded Eraser
- Regular eraser
- Paper size: 16 by 11
- Pencil Drawing
- Tissue paper for extra smoothness
Step 1: So I started with the grid lines using HB graphite pencil. I outlined the basic parts of the drawing. The general shape of the head and the facial features ---eyes, nose and mouth.
Step 2: I started shading the skin tones, gently working my way and layering from dark tones to light tones.
Step 3: When I was finally satisfied with my skin tones, I started the hoodie.
Step 4: I started plotting the lines for the apple tree. The apple tree was kind of difficult because I have never drawn anything apart from humans before. 😅
Steadily progressing while drawing simple shapes. I used the pencil eraser to create white strands for the hair.
And Ta-da! 😁
Even though I liked how it turned out, it could still be better.
The best thing about this drawing was that, when I posted it on Instagram, he saw it and he liked it! A lot!
I wasn't expecting that and I felt really happy he did.
If you stayed till the end, thanks a lot.
You can check Nathan here🫴🏼 nathanespinozayt
He also has a vlog channel, his top secret channel, where we meet Nathan and not the tech bro. 😅
I guess I'd leak his secret nathan
I want to invite @henryclive @beverlyoj @wakeupkitty, I'd really love to see your drawings!

This is really cool!!!
And thank you for the invite but I don't draw...
Thanks 😊
You're welcome
Wow, you're on another level. You are really good! But I can't draw like that, and I don't draw people because people change - joking! I'm still learning and we'll see how far I'll go like Moana 😅
kidding aside, I'm still learning though, I might try painting someday 'cause I already bought a book about it so...we'll see.
thanks for the invitation by the way
🤣🤣 You made me laugh so hard!
I wonder how we would draw people that change. What kind of change though? Positive or negative? We'd have to consider that. 😅 You reminded me of my classmates.
I'm still learning and I hope to be better soon. Thanks. 😊
I hope you reach your Te Fiti. Goodluck on your art journey. ✨
I'm no comedian, but I'm glad it made you laugh.
Positive or negative? Both. People change—they get fatter or thinner. One day, they look pure and innocent; the next, they seem corrupted and haggard. At one moment, they're your friends; the next, they're strangers. I don’t know... I’d rather not capture that in my art.
Am I making sense?😅
And I need that chicken or the pork? to reach te fiti...
I guess I'm weird. That's the kind of situation that inspires me to write stories and create something.
And about that chicken....I just ate it 😬
No no no, I'm the weird one, obviously. I'm not even a real artist. You, on the other hand, are very talented - an artist at heart.
wait, what? You ate Heihei? You're a cruel artist🥺
What do you mean by real artist? I didn't know we had fake artists. I don't know, is there someone who decides whether someone is qualified to be an artist or not?
Talent doesn't actually matter. As long as you keep doing what you love. Even though it may seem difficult, we eventually have to choose our hard. To get better is hard and choosing not to get better is hard. Choose your hard.
And talent? As far as I know, I've never been really good at anything. And I just keep on learning, even though I have to do more work than the talented ones.
What? 🫤 She literally told me to eat her. She just kept pecking at the pan so I guess that's what she wanted 🤗
Hearing these words from you has convinced me—I completely agree with you on this.
What do you mean 'she'? Heihei is a rooster, right?😅 I have no words on what you've done with him...😞
Real artist? Fake artist? The remark is ignored but worth an upvote. 👍
