Mene Gold for the Naga Warrior!

in #steemmonsters6 years ago (edited)

According to legend...

Long ago the Queen of the Nagas fell in love with a fisherman she met at the river's edge. Despite their obvious differences, they got along famously; she taught him how to read the movements of water & fish, while he taught her about the human language & the arts. As time went on their differing natures became painfully apparent as the man began to age with each passing day, while his love remained every bit as beautiful as she had when she first appeared before him, those many years ago. With time upon them, the fisherman grew weaker and began to come less frequently, until the day had arrived when he knew that he would be unable to meet with his love any longer.

On that fated day, he met her one last time to give her his prized possession. A Medallion that had been given to him by a gallant knight, which he had cherished since childhood. They said their tearful goodbyes sealed with a kiss, the man dying soon thereafter, while the Queen heartbroken, remained held up in her chambers, never to be seen again.

It is said that the medallion was later used as the design model for their Naga Warriors' shields. Why the Queen would make such a bizarre decree no one really knew, but to this day all Naga Warriors carry a golden shield, with the word 'Égalité,' pounded in, above a prominent ram's head. Some say the Queen wished to pay tribute to the man that had stolen her heart, while others believe that she wished for her warriors to view all beings before them, as potential equals.

This is my choice for the "Mene Gold for the Naga Warrior," giveaway/contest. I chose the gold Égalité Medallion for a number of reasons;

  1. Representing equality & strength I thought this medallion fitting for the Naga warrior, as nagas in Buddhist philosophy were believed to be holy animals (snakes) that often accompanied and protected enlightened beings while on their earthly pilgrimages. Vasuki, the King of the Nagas, is believed to be the snake that is wrapped around Lord Shiva's neck in Hindu philosophy. Thus rather than being a terrifying beast, to me, the Naga Warrior is a noble creature, that fights for natural order & balance.

  2. I'm an Aries, so as the hopeful future owner of this the GF Naga Warrior that's up for grabs, I thought this medallion was also an accurate representation of my nature, at least how I wish it to become. :)

  3. Based on the Naga Warrior's character design (gold accents) I thought the gold medallion would probably be her preferred metal of choice.
