TechClub Brandkit: Defining the safe zone of the logo

tc cover.png

Continuing with the development of the TechClub brand we begin to propose the structure of what will be our Brand Manual, for this we will create a new document in InkScape, the default measures that we will use will be 1920x1080 px to generate a horizontal 16:9 aspect ratio.

Put the tool to create pages of the program I managed to create 9 canvases with these measures one under the other. Each canvas that we are creating will represent a sheet in our brand manual, so if you keep it tidy it will be easy to visualize how it looks.

To each sheet I was placing a different color, no matter what it is simply to be able to identify them and have a visual guide, eliminate that shrill color and finally design the manual sheet will make you feel like you are progressing.

After repeating this process with the nine sheets and adding a title to each one to make it a little more visual and be able to know what will go in each thing in a simple way. In this way we reduce time thinking about what to go to the next sheet and we simply already have a template to start capturing everything we want in our Manual. You should be something like this the canvases and layers of the document.

We will leave the cover of the document for the end since this will simply be a mockup using our logo in some real place as a demonstration. The first thing I did was define a slightly light gray color for the background and add a bar of the color of the mark to the left side of the sheet, in this strip I added the page number. Right next to it I added the title of the sheet approximately 50% smaller than the page number.

Después importe el logo y comencé a trabajar las líneas que definen la zona segura del mismo.

For the safe area of the logo use the size present in the width of the upper line of the T that forms the symbol of it, with this size we generate a perfect square and that will be the precautionary distance to keep the wolf balanced and avoid making it lose detail in some other design that we are going to make. And this is what is known as a respect zone in the logos.

Finally, we simply add a little additional information that indicates that the X is the distance at the top line of the T as we have previously mentioned. In this way we have completed the first sheet of what will be the TechClub brand manual.

Here are the logo files in SVG and PNG.

In the next publications of this project we will build what will be the complete manual of the brand so that it can be used correctly by other people.

I try to understand what this s about. Make a logo and show how you did it? If this is the case, what is the difference with using Canva or some other tool?
Why all those coloured sheets (layers and if why is it needed?).

What makes this logo more special that that many others?

Thanks for explaining.

InkScape is a vector-based design program, it is open source and you can create vector files. (SVG) InkScape is an alternative to Adobe Illustrator and is used to professional design.

Vectors can be climbed (expanded or reduced) without losing quality.

I am developing a manual brandkit, the color tables are just for reference, for example, if I work on typography page I will remove this color and use the ones like in the page I did here.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I just asked my son and he says he has the program but has never used it. Right now he is following your instructions. Let's see where it takes him.
